For this week’s episode of LLL, Alayna and Kelsey chat about their experience as women in the mortgage space and how things have changed since they got their start.
Kelsey started in a sales role in another industry. That was a brutal daily grind, which saw her making 80 cold calls a day. She moved to Customer Success, which is where she stayed after joining LodeStar.
Being new to any job is intimidating. But being new to the work world in general, fresh out of college, is even scarier. Mentorship—especially for women—is all about helping others who are new to the workforce, to a given role, or a given industry. It’s about providing key support and competence, especially if your own early work life was more adversarial than what you’re providing for your mentees.
The mortgage industry hasn’t always been a place that prioritizes helping women succeed. But there are more women leaders now, and the industry is becoming a friendlier and friendlier place for young female employees and aspiring leaders.
Everywhere you go, and in everything you do, learn as much as possible.
